How to Speed Up a Dell Laptop by Doing These Simple Steps

This article will show you how to speed up a Dell Inspiron laptop. This system is new and was bought by me just a few days ago, mainly because of its specs which made it the best laptop on the market. But speed is not the only reason for its downfall. There are many things that can cause your laptop to run slow, such as virus, malware, spyware and I am sure many more things that I forgot to mention.

Scenario:

Dell Inspiron 1500 runs extremely slow. Since day one it’s been running extremely slow. You have tried several things but nothing works. You may have thought to yourself “I should try an anti-virus program” or “try defrag” but nothing helps.

Steps To Speed Up a Dell Laptop

1. Using An Antivirus Program

First thing to check, is whether your laptop is infected with virus. If your laptop is infected then the first thing you should do is to remove the virus. You can do this by using an anti-virus program. If the virus is not removed then you may have to run a defragmentation program. Defragment is needed to optimize the performance of your disk space because all the old and fragmented files on your disk are now together in one big file. This makes your laptop faster because all the unnecessary data are put in the right place making your system able to find it easily when looking for data.

2. Clean Up Your Computer

Step 2, you need to clean up your computer. This is the first and most important step towards speeding up Dell Inpiron. Junk files and fragments are not only slowing down your laptop but they also take up disk space. After cleaning up your computer, reinstall the operating system and the software. Clean up the trash and empty directories. The third step is to clear your registry.

3. Diagnostic Startup

Step 3, restart your laptop and open the diagnostics console. You can determine if your device is working properly or not by clicking on the Diagnostic Startup in the setup interface. Here you can see all the errors that are in your disks or in the boot up process. Usually all the things are checked in here like BIOS, hard disk, network and USB drivers. If there are any errors in any of these things then you need to replace them. You can continue by going through the bootup procedures in detail, including error checking with the F12 key.

4. Disk Cleanup

Step 4, with your mouse held vertically, click on Start, select Control Panel and then click on Disk Cleanup. Here you can delete all the files that are not required by your operating system. Now come to the Analyse tab and click the Scan button. You have to repeat the above steps to optimize your Dell iPSocket in order to get fast and error-free operation from your laptop.

5. Using Task Manager

Step 5, after your laptop has come to life, close all the applications that were running. Then press the Esc key on your keyboard to bring up the console window, from where you can select the Process System Tools tab and then click on the arrow. Here you have to click on Selective Defragmentation and the Windows-mounted Speedup defragmenter will be installed into your computer. After the installation is done, close all other applications that are running, as well as the one running in the Task Manager.

With the Windows-mounted defragmenter now installed, you have to click on the Start button on your laptop. On the General tab, you have to click on Performance and Maintenance and on the Selective Maintenance tab, you have to click on the button called Use system optimizer to speed up Dell iPSocket. The speed up Dell Laptop should be located on the drives UMA and MMC and it should be powered on. You have to wait until it finishes loading or until you see the green light starting to flash before it loads the program for the first time. After this, you have to restart your laptop for the changes to take effect.
